There is a company who do flights in several places in Andalucia and they are based in Granada.

We once recommended them to the BBC who were doing a short 5 minute clip for a travel programme with Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen. I never actually saw the finished program.

In Granada they normally take off from San Miguel Alto which is opposite the Alhambra and above the Albaicín. If you are lucky the wind will be very slow and you will be able to get a good view of the Alhambra and Granada before you are blown too far away.

A friend of mine celebrated his 60's birthday by taking a ballon flight. I went for the take off but I was scared of getting vertigo so I didn't go up myself.  First of all they unpacked the balloon, then they start to inflate it with a big electric fan. Once there is sufficient air in it they light the burners and get some hot air into the balloon. When the balloon is upright everyone gets into the basket.
The flight lasts about 15 minutes.

It would be a good way to do something special to celebrate a birthday or something.

The website of the company is here
