How can I get a street map of Granada before I visit so that i can locate hotels in relation to the centro?

granadamap.com has a lot of maps of Granada

For example this page is Plaza Nueva in the centre of Granada

Google maps have maps of Granada although they don't show things like the Alhambra.

This is a map of the Calle Elvira which is a popular place for young people to go out.

A lot of accomodation places in granadainfo.com have detailed maps eg
This one is centred on in the main square BIB RAMBLA
http://granadainfo.com/arena/essential.htm
