Almuñecar / Almuñecar Jazz Festival
« Last post by Steven Wellington on June 26, 2016, 09:18:45 AM »
Every year towards the end of July there is a Jazz festival in Almuñecar.
It lasts about a week and most performances take place in the Majuelo park in the open air.
It is normally quite hot at this time of year and the jazz is late in the evening when the temperatures are cooler.
On Saturday night they normally have some big name that you may have heard of.
If you like Jazz it would be a great time to visit Almuñecar.

« Last post by granadagirl on March 31, 2016, 06:29:56 AM »
There is a company which offers this service.

This guided tour includes an official guided tour  (in English), tickets for all parts of the Alhambra and return transport with an assistant guide from your hotel in Seville city-centre.

Itinerary: Nasrid Palaces, Fortress (Alcazaba), Charles V Palace and Medina to finish in the Generalife Gardens and Palace.

Here is a link to book tickets

Getting to Granada / Information about buses in Spain
« Last post by John on March 15, 2016, 10:00:48 AM »
ALSA

The biggest company for buses in Spain is Alsa.
You can find bus information and book online to and from almost everywhere in Spain.

Many buses have wifi, toilets etc.
You can book online and show the screen of you smartphone as if it were a ticket.

Just go to
https://alsa.com

It is possible to transport pets on buses in Spain.
See more info here
https://www.alsa.com/en/web/bus/alsa-experience/plan-your-journey/pet-transportation

Alsa have some very interesting bus pass offers.
For example you can buy a pass to go anywhere in Andalucia for 7 days for a fixed price.

Eurolines:
If you want to make a big international bus journey it is a good idea to check if eurolines have any good prices. They have routes all over Europe. They used to have good rates between Granada and Lisbon.

There are 3 choices

1. Get a guided Tour:

Getting Alhambra tickets is a complicated process with a lot to understand. If you don't want to have all the hassle of understanding about the tickets and what the Nasrid Palaces are and when to get in the queue and where to go then you can take the easy route and just get a guided tour. Someone else will take all the pain away. There are no decisions to make. This is by far the most expensive.

You can search all the tour companies here.

https://granadainfo.com/alhambra_ticket_search.htm

2. Get  your own tickets online.

Get them as far in advance as possible. You may have to spend 15 - 20 minutes on internet buying the tickets and understanding the implications. About 60% of posts on this forum are about buying tickets to the Alhambra.

This is much cheaper and is better if you like making your own decisions and don't like spending too much money.

This site has very informative info about the choices

3. Get your own tickets  but get an audio guide

You can hire a little mp3 player with a commentary to give you more info.

Info here.

What to do in Granada / What is best a guided tour of the Alhambra or go alone?
« Last post by Ashley on November 26, 2015, 11:12:11 AM »
I am  very confused with all the possibilities of visiting the Alhambra.

There are guided tours with several different companies and buying tickets with ticketmaster seems complicated.
What should I do?

I will be in Granada with my wife for several days next spring.

Does anyone know of any guided tours, excursions or other activities to do in Granada?

I would like to know about free activities but also I don't mind paying for activities.
