What to do in Granada / Re: 2 night trip to Granada for our anniversary.

I can confirm that we had a nightmare with parking too. We went to Granada in March and stayed at the The Barceló Granada Congress, which really was a nice hotel. But again, what a palava with no where to park. There was a charge for the car park on top of the hotel prices and the charge of 15€ was per day! Finding a spot was hassle though. We watched in awe as a taxi dropped off its 4 guests each with a suitcase...seconds from the hotel entrance. We thought, what a hassle free trip! After a long drive from Marbella up to Granada, anyone could do without having to drive around for ages looking for a space to leave the car safely. If youre coming from Marbella http://www.marbellataxis.com/ is who we have heard of and tested for next time. If you are coming from Nerja which is where we also sometimes stay on the Costa Del Sol, and Granada is only just over an hour http://www.nerjataxis.net/ is another reliable one.  This time we did not get chance to do the Granada palace, Alhambra, but after all of our friends reviews this is now priority again for a great day out and special trip for our own anniversary.  Regarding eating out, we tried searching for an indian after hearing great reviews but was dissapointed to find out that this one on the review was the size of a small cafe so we left to find something a little better. After a fscinating trip past the old part of Granda and the many Morroco food places and shops, we came accross Babel World Fusion. The food was very different and interesting. Lebaneze dishes were a new one for me. But there was more - South American, Vegetarian Friendly, Vegan Options, Gluten Free Option, Indian, Moroccan, Mediterranean, European, Spanish tapas and meals.  My African chicken curry was  tasty and served on a bed of hot slate, which was unique. Although this place was not amazing as some reviewers state, or fine dining for an anniversary, it was fascinating and a fun quest to find.
Glad we tried it.

Overall we had an enjoyable trip, great stay at the Barcelo hotel Spa.

Hope our little trip and experiences help somewhat.

Hi JeanC,

Did you make your trip to Granada yet?

For a trip to Granada I don´t recommend you to go by car since parking is an absolute nightmare. Best use the public bus transport which is quite good to move around.

For walks I would recommmend to go to the Sacromonte neighborhood and visit the many monasteries and the cathedral.

Of course the visit to the Alhambra can´t be avoided! There are several options to buy tickets. Here are some generic information websites to solve most of your queries:

Plaza nueva is an excellent location to stay. You´re close to EVERTHING. I personally recommend you stay in that area.

If you´re looking for activities to do, best try the Hammam with tickets to the Alhambra included, I did that tour after seein very good tripadvisor reviews and was not disappointed.

Hope this helps with your trip.

Cheers!

What to do in Granada / 2 night trip to Granada for our anniversary.
« Last post by Susan and Peter on February 20, 2017, 10:57:54 AM »
My wife and I are staying in Nerja on the coast during the winter. It is our aniversary on the 7th of  March and we would like to visit Granada for 2 nights.

I am not sure if we should take the bus or the car.

My wife likes seafood and we would like to go to a restaurant which does good paella. We are both fairly fit and we like walking. Are there any good walks around the city?

I have been told that it is complicated to book tickets to the Alhambra do you have any advice. Is a guided tour a good idea?

Where is the best place to stay? I have been told it is good to be near Plaza Nueva. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

What to do in Granada / Re: Mirador de San Nicolas
« Last post by Steven Wellington on February 10, 2017, 11:41:24 AM »
A mirador is a view point with a panoramic view.

Mirar in Spanish means "to look".
So a mirador is a "looker" or a place where you look from.

The Mirador de San Nicolas has a wonderful panorama of the Alhambra.
It is in the Albaicin and is across a valley from the Alhambra.
It is free, it is just a public square.
