Before I go to Granada I would like to get a bit of historical background so I can understand the basics of the Granada and the Alhambra.
I have seen some pages pages but they are much to academic.

I just want simple answers to simple questions for example.

When was the Alhambra built? etc

They have the answer to very simple questions eg

What does Alhambra mean?

What was the purpose of the Alhambra?
